Revlon, Inc.: Enhancing Beauty Around the World
Ask any woman around the world what are the best cosmetic products and you would likely hear the word Revlon on top of their list. Since the company’s inception in 1932, their products have transformed women across the globe and added elegance and beauty to their daily lives.
It was brothers Charles and Joseph Revson, who founded the company together with chemist CR Lachman. The name Revlon was taken from the last name of the brothers with Lachman’s initial replacing the letter S. These gentlemen have set the standards in cosmetics and have made an imprint in the beauty industry forever. Before creating their world famous make-up and lipsticks, they first introduced to the market, their revolutionary nail enamel. Starting out with red, they have expanded the color of their nail polish to match the daily outfit of the fashionable women in the United States. It didn’t take long for their product to pick up a hefty follower that even Vogue started featuring their offerings.
Competing against foreign actresses like Ingrid Bergman and Brigitte Bardot, Revlon released their empowering campaign of Fire & Ice in the 1950s, which showcased the beauty of the American woman and how she could be as compelling and glamorous as those foreign artists. As the decades turn, the company continued its quest in championing beauty products for the fashionable American woman. To market its products, it has partnered with some of the world’s most sought after women. These faces include Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer. From the Great Depression, Revlon has withstood the test of time and continues to enhance the beauty of every woman in the world. Holding its headquarters in New York City, the business now markets a wide array of personal care products, skin care items, fragrances and cosmetics. Annually, Revlon, Inc. generates more than $1.3 billion in revenue.
