He joined Cooksey, Toolen, Gage, Duffy & Woog as an Associate Attorney, becoming a Partner in five years before striking out on his own. Kenneth Sheppard served as an Associate Attorney and later as a Partner at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP (now Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP), based in New York City, and acted as Vice President and General Counsel of Melaleuca Inc., which sells consumer products globally. He also practiced at Durham Jones & Pinegar, with offices in Utah and Nevada, before combining forces at Bangerter Sheppard.
